Joan Vivian Stark Glaze of Tifton, 80, died Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Golden Living Center.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church of Tifton. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 21, 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Glaze was born December 22, 1935, in Hyattsville, Maryland to the late William George and Ethel May Everdale Stark.
Mrs. Glaze was married to Dr. Norman C. Glaze for 54 years, who died November 18, 2014. Mr. and Mrs. Glaze moved to Tifton in 1968 and became members of the First Presbyterian Church where Mrs. Glaze was a member of the Presbyterian Women’s Organization and served in the kitchen for many years. She also assisted with delivering meals on wheels. She was a homemaker and also had a flourishing business of growing and selling African Violets. Mrs. Glaze was formerly an employee of Fitzgerald Underwear and People’s Drug Store (now CVS). She was a “one of a kind” person known by all for her humor, jovial personality and generosity. She loved the “Pit Stop” restaurant and brownie cupcakes from “Oh My Goodies” bakery.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Glaze is preceded in death by her three sisters, Esther May Brawand, Corrine Everdale Coccia, and Diane Carolyn Stark.
Mrs. Glaze is survived by one sister, Ethel May Campbell of Capital Heights, Maryland; seven nieces and nephews, Edward “Butch” Brawand, Christine and John Snyder, Jeannie and Mike Black, Patricia Bell and Linda Price, Cathy and Larry Jugler and Matthew Campbell; and her very special friend, Lavonne Chung of Tifton.
