Jehu Thomas Garren, 84, has sadly passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024at Saint Joseph Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 17, 2024 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. James Mickey Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Rusty Garren, Stanley Hill, Ricky Hill, Kenneth Garren, Tommy Garren and Frankie Garren will serve as pallbearers.
He was born December 18, 1939 to the late James Thomas Garren and Lucy Mae Walker Garren in Berrien County, Georgia, where he grew up surrounded by the beauty of the countryside he loved dearly.
Throughout his life, Thomas was known for his warm and welcoming nature. He never met a stranger, finding joy in connecting with people from all walks of life. His love for conversation and genuine interest in others endeared him to many. An avid outdoorsman, Thomas found solace in nature, especially when he was fishing, working in his garden or exploring the mountains, which brought him peace and happiness. He enjoyed being a mechanic, especially his years working for Kennon Tractor and Tift County. His favorite hobbies were tinkering with old tractors, vehicles and riding motorcycles.
Thomas is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-six years, Norma Lee Watkins Garren; his children, Donna Wolfe (Ken) of Ocilla and Quintin Garren (Melissa) of Tifton; his grandchildren, Erica and Tony Murphy, Michael and Kourtni Wolfe, and Alayna Garren; his great-grandchildren, Bailey Murphy and Olivia Wolfe; his three brothers, Russell Garren aka "Tootsie", Charles Garren "Frog", and Frank Garren.Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Eugene "Gene" Garren, John Garren "Cooter", Tony Garren, and his sister, Carolyn Faulkner.
