Jeannine (May) Helmey

Mrs. Marilyn Jeannine May Helmey, 71, of Tifton, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

The Funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 27, 2022 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Jim Bolen officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. at the funeral home before the service.

Mrs. Helmey was born January 23, 1951 in Chatham County, Georgia to the late Arthur Dewey May, Sr. and Delilah Register May. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Earl Henderson Helmey and her two brothers. Mrs. Helmey was a member of Northside Baptist Church of Tifton and was a graduate of Savannah High School. She was very smart, funny, feisty and had a photographic memory. Her children referred to her as a walking encyclopedia. Mrs. Jeannine homeschooled her children and her grandchildren.

Mrs. Helmey is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Laci and Eric Kearney and her son, Glenn Helmey all of Tifton; her nine grandchildren, Kimberly Rodriguez, Kaitlyn Kearney, Kathrina Brettschneider, Tabea Brettschneider, Gabriel Kearney, Caleb Kearney, Caiden Kearney, Brayson Kearney, Shayla Kearney; two great grandchildren, Bri Rodrigues and Alex Rodrigues and one sister, Virginia Lee of Wilmington Island, Georgia.
