Mr. James “Jim” Perry Golden, 85, of Enigma passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 with his family by his side.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Derrell Spikes officiating and a eulogy will be given by Craig Thomas. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 P.M. at the church before the service. Interment will follow the service at Oakridge Cemetery with military funeral honors rendered.
Jim was born November 20, 1935 in Terrell County, Georgia where he graduated from high school in 1953 and also attended ABAC. He parents are the late Abraham Golden, III and Mary Jane Shipp Golden. He was also preceded in death by his three sisters, Ann Golden Spring, Nora B. Bowen and Margaret Golden Clure and his four brothers John Eugene Golden, Robert Lee Golden, E. Frank Golden, and Hubert Neil Golden. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served in the Medical Corps division. He loved the military life and was very patriotic. Mr. Golden had lived in Tift County in the 1960’s and later moved back in 1979. He had also retired from Prestolite Wiring Company where he was the purchasing manager. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Tifton. He loved his church. Jim was an avid genealogist and loved spending time on his family’s history. He was truly the patriarch of his family and was a wonderful provider. He raised seven children and taught them principals of family values.
Jim is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Nancy Dean Golden of Enigma; his children, Debra Susan Smith of Tifton; James Perry and Kim Golden, II of Raleigh, NC., Joseph Elder and Lynne Golden of Wilmington, NC., George and Jennifer Golden of Enigma; Galena Cattell of Tifton; Robert Foster and Tracey Golden of Enigma; Douglas “Buck” and Tracey Golden of Rincon; twenty-five grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren, and sister Nick Golden McCook of Cuthbert.
