James "Dillon" Kinchen

Mr. J. D. "Dillon" Kinchen, 88, of Tifton, passed away into the arms of his heavenly Father, on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Cypress Pond Assisted Living after an extended illness..

Due to the national emergency, a private graveside service will be held Saturday, April 11, 2020 in Tift Memorial Gardens with Rev. John Jacobs officiating.

Mr. Kinchen was born December 20, 1931 in Glenwood, Georgia to the late Walter Thomas Kinchen and Mintie Mead Kinchen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Dorothy Parten of Alapaha and Doris Lynch of Tifton.

Mr. Kinchen was a member of Trinity Methodist Church for several years where he served as a deacon, vice president of the Men's club, recognized and awarded for his dedication and service to his church. He retired from Royal Crown and Coca-Cola bottling companies as a refrigeration electrician. Mr. Kinchen had a passion for cooking, fishing and music. He enjoyed his late years "cruising" with his wife and family. He will best be remembered for his selfless dedication, hard work to helping others, and fabulous cakes he always made and gave away.

Mr. Kinchen is survived by his loving wife, Johnnie Woodall Kinchen, of Tifton to whom he was married for sixty-nine years; his two daughters, Deborah Kinchen Jones of Tifton and Jacqueline and Bryan Wright of Valdosta; two brothers, Dewitt Kinchen of Jesup and Rass Kinchen of Enigma; three grandchildren, James Christopher Harper of Kingsport, Tenn., Danielle and Greg McKneely of Amite, La., Melanie George of Valdosta and Melanie Jones of Tifton; his great-grandchildren, Gavin and Dylan McKneely, David Jamison and Beverly Harper and Braun and Taylor Harper.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the Cypress Pond staff and Hospice of Tift Area.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Tift Area, PO Box 747, 618 North Central Avenue, Tifton, Ga. 31793.
