Tifton – James W. “Jimmy” Ray, 80 of Tifton died Sunday, April 08, 2018 at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald after a short illness.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday April 10, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. in Oakridge Cemetery with eulogies given by good friend Grady Thompson, Jr. and his sister Martha Ray. The family will receive friends on Monday evening at Albritton Funeral Directors from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
Jimmy was born January 19, 1938 in Tift County to the late Lyle B. and Mae Swift Ray. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandson Joshua Lyle Ray. He was a resident of Tift County for his entire life except the last eight years he resided in Fitzgerald.
Jimmy graduated from Tift County High School in 1955 where he played football for the Tift County Blue Devils. He was a self-employed farmer and he had retired from Tifton Aluminum Company. He enjoyed farming, quail hunting, raising livestock, riding and showing horses.
He is survived by his son Kenny Ray, sisters, Louise Baker and Martha Ray all of Tifton, his niece Rhonwyn Godwin and husband Joe of Orlando, FL along with numerous cousins.
