Jaiden Watson Tidd

August 15, 1999 — January 11, 2025

Tifton

My little brother, Jaiden Watson Tidd, born on August 15, 1999, in Tifton, Georgia, tragically passed away in his home on January 11, 2025.

This portion of the obituary would traditionally list someone's educational or professional achievements, but Jaiden was not a traditional person and didn't place value on traditional things. He would be highly disappointed (and probably have a few things to say) if I wrote his obituary in a way that didn't reflect who he truly was.

Jaiden wasn't one for small talk or empty pleasantries. He appreciated direct, meaningful conversation laced with a little (or a lot) of humor and sarcasm. He was incredibly funny and quick-witted. He was never without a quip or comeback and could make you laugh and want to roll your eyes at him simultaneously. He loved and respected his pets and animals in general. He oftentimes had the amazing ability to form connections with them in ways that no one else could. He was one of the most intelligent people I've ever met. As the saying goes, "He knew a little about a lot." If you brought up a topic of conversation, chances are, he knew something about it or wanted to learn more. He was tech savvy and rebuilt computers as a hobby. He spent some of his last month’s rebuilding a computer piece by piece for his nephew to play Minecraft on and wouldn't accept so much as a "thank you" for it. He had deep, unique perspectives on life and some of my favorite conversations with him were spent discussing them. My little brother faced many struggles with his mental health over the years, as so many people do, but that is not what I or anyone who knew him will remember most about him. We will remember him as someone who loved his wonderful mother dearly, offered kind words to his sister when he was unable to do the same for himself, and had the biggest soft spot for his little nephew. He was honest, funny, unpretentious, non-materialistic, and placed value on the simple things in life and those closest to him. Those are the things I want people to remember most about him.

He is survived by his beloved mother, Tosha Tidd, his big sister, Trista Tidd, and his cherished nephew, Luca Elizondo. He also leaves behind his grandparents, Elise and Danny Overstreet, an aunt, Anna Slaymaker and family, and two uncles, Tim McKinnon and family, and Toby McKinnon and family, and others who loved him dearly.

Jaiden is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Watson Tidd, and his great grandmother, Louise Kelly.

This obituary was written by his sister, Trista Tidd.
