Ms. Jacqueline “Jackie” Wildene Walters Fargo, 87, of Tifton, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022 at Legacy Village Assisted Living Center of Tifton.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, October 31, 2022 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Stacy Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. on Monday before the service at the funeral home.
Her nephews will serve as pallbearers and the members of The Wilda Walters Sunday School Class will be honorary pallbearers.
Ms. Fargo was born June 9, 1935 in Tift County to the late Henry Arthur Walters and Wilda Templeton Walters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Tyson, and her brother, Doyle Walters. Ms. Fargo attended Northside Baptist Church of Tifton where she was a member of The Wilda Walters Sunday School Class. She was a retired teacher who taught special education for over forty years. She began her teaching career in Bibb County, Georgia then in Athens where she obtained her masters degree. In 1976, she studied for a year in London, then she taught in Orlando for the rest of her forty-year teaching career. Jackie was an avid reader and enjoyed political channels on her television.
Ms. Fargo is survived by her two sisters, Joyce Carr of Tifton and Peggy Scheffler of Springhill, Florida and her sister-in-law, Donna Walters of Macon. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
