Jack Ernest Keith, 71, of Omega passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the chapel at Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Benjy Varnell officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Keith was born on January 20, 1945 in Tift County to the late Robert and Edith Patrick Keith. He graduated as star student at Omega High School and later received his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of Georgia and his Bachelor’s degree in computer programming from Augusta State University. Mr. Keith also served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam as a pharmacist at Saigon Hospital. As a computer programmer he developed and managed the Georgia Varsity Sports Vent, a premier high school interactive sports site for Georgia athletics. It was first in the nation of its kind and during football season it would receive over a million hits a week.
Mr. Keith was married to Elizabeth Carson Keith of Omega. He was a wonderful husband and father to his two sons and daughter and a great grandfather to his granddaughter. Mr. Keith was very devoted to his mother. He enjoyed raising and breeding championship Pug dogs.
In addition to his wife, Elizabeth Keith, Mr. Keith is survived by two sons, Mikell and Missy Reed of Omega and Race and Hoyeon Reed of Daejeon, South Korea; one daughter, Lisha and Noble Mendez of Suwanee, Georgia; one granddaughter, Lily Elizabeth Keith Mendez; and two sisters, Nancy and Francis Rowe of Newnan and Mary Lynn and Earl Johnson of Hartwell.
