Irene Hall Hansel, 92, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Tift Health and Rehab Center.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 13th at 2:00pm in Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Norris officiating. Interment to follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, December 12th from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home.
Deacons of Eastside Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. The Faithful Class and The Nursing Home volunteers will serve as Honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Hansel was born October 2, 1925 in Worth County to the late O. H. Hall and Zara Barnes Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chesley Hansel who died March, 1981, one brother, Mickey Hall and one sister, Dorothy Daniels.
Mrs. Hansel was a charter member of Eastside Baptist Church, worked for J. P. Stevens for twenty-nine years and a volunteer at the former Tifton Nursing Home for thirty years. She was a wonderful Mother and was known as Mema to her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook who loved to bake. Her family was the center of her life. Mrs. Hansel loved her church and her Lord and she led an exemplary Christian life. She was an example for others. She loved to travel to such places as the mountains, beach, Branson, Missouri and Nashville, TN.
Mrs. Hansel is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Jackie Womack and Joyce and Larry Norton all of Tifton; seven grandchildren, Cherie Cason, Lance Cason, Whitney Huggins, Brett Womack, Brad Rutland, Mona and Johnny Valdez, Amy and Shawn Jones; eight grandchildren, Kyleigh Marchant, Gatlin Marchant, Harper Huggins, Hudson Huggins, Corina Rutland, Sierra Valdez, Naython Jones, Amia Jones; two great grandchildren, John John Rutland and Camdyn Pryor. She was also survived by her cousin Martha Robinson who was like a sister to her.
