Ida Jane Nevil Tidwell

 Mrs. Ida Jane Nevil Tidwell, 83, passed away on March 18, 2024, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Ga. She was born Register, Georgia on March 29, 1940 as the daughter of C. M. and Antonette McCorkle Nevil. 
 
Ida dedicated thirty years of her life to nurturing young minds as a first-grade teacher for the Turner County School System. She graduated from Statesboro High School and she held a Bachelor's Degree from Georgia Southern College in Statesboro, GA, 
 
Outside of her professional career, Ida was a devoted member of Eastside Baptist Church and actively volunteered at the Salvation Army. She had a generous spirit and enjoyed creating goody baskets for the Easter Seals participants. Her culinary skills were renowned, particularly for her famous fried apple tart pies. In her leisure time, she found joy in taking walks with her dog, Trip, tending to her yard, and engaging in sewing projects.
 
Mrs. Tidwell is survived by her son James Tidwell III of Tifton, daughter and son-in-law Beth and Nick Alberson of Sycamore, grandchildren, Nicole and Jeremy Poole, Shelby Alberson, and Jesse Hardy. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren Lani Poole, Luci Poole, Loretta Poole, Fallon Hardy, and Abel Hardy.
 
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, James Moultrie Tidwell, Jr. and by her two brothers Tony Marlin Nevil and Charles Mack Nevil.
 
Services to honor and remember Mrs. Ida will be held at Albritton Funeral Directors in Tifton on March 20th with visitation from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A graveside service will take place on Thursday March 21st at 11:00 AM in Statesboro, Georgia in the Ephesus Church Cemetery in Statesboro, Georgia. 
 
Mrs. Ida Jane Nevil Tidwell will be fondly remembered for her kindness, compassion, and dedication to both her profession and community. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched during her lifetime.
