Hulen Cullis Jones

Hulen Cullis Jones, 80, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at The Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 25th in Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Layfield officiating. Interment to follow in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 24th from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home.

Frank Jones, Derrick Jones, Reid Jones, Dan Richardson, Jamy Henderson and Kirby Jones will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Jones was born December 29, 1936 in Tift County to the late Paul Verner Jones and Josie Lightfoot Jones. He was also preceded in death by his three brothers and sister-in-law, Derris and Patricia Jones, Jack Jones and Hubert Jones. one sister Joyce Richardson, four brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Ted Stripling, Raymond Richardson, Melvin Bryan, Bill and Joan Spiedel. Mr. Jones was married to Judith Bailey Jones for sixty years and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.    He was the former owner of Quality Chrysler Dodge & Jeep in Fitzgerald. He was active in his church and his love in life was his family. He was past president of the board of Tiftarea Academy and of TAP at the school. He loved woodworking and building derby cars for his grandchildren. The Christmas season was special to him and he would decorate for Halloween for the children of the Chula community. He and his brothers, Derris and Root were avid collectors of pedal and scale model tractors. Hulen loved car racing and Nascar and drove a Porsche Spyder where he held a racing record for Chimney Rock, N.C.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Leslie and Sidney Cromer of Chula, three sons and one daughter-in-law, Keith Jones, Scott Jones, Kyle and Heather Jones all of Chula, eleven grandchildren Justin Roberson and Brittany Perry, Lacey and Blake Jones, Summer Cromer and Robbie Moore, Brittney Cromer and Darren Harrison, Colby Jones, Cully Jones, Bailey Jones and Sadie Jones, four great grandchildren, Lexie Lane, Colton Jones, Perry Jones and Rylee Roberson, two sisters, JoAnn Bryan, and Shirley Stripling, both of Chula, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Betty Jones, and Larry and Nancy Jones, all of Chula, and one sister-in-law Nell Jones of Chula.
