Henry Lee Barnard, 75, aka “Mr. B” a man of many talents and passions, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2023 at his son’s home in Tifton. He was born on April 4, 1948, in Tifton, Georgia to his parents William Henry Barnard and Mary Elizabeth Thompson, who are both deceased.
Henry had an illustrious career that showcased his diverse skills and interests. He was particularly skilled in repairing and restoring old automobiles, a talent that he nurtured throughout his life. For many years, he ran his own garage where he not only repaired vehicles but also passed down his knowledge and expertise to his sons, grandsons, and nephews. From tinkering with a taillight to more intricate tasks like replacing transmissions, Henry shared valuable lessons with his family. These moments spent learning from him created lasting memories for all involved.
In 1984, Henry decided to take on a new professional endeavor and purchased a semi-truck. He embarked on a journey across the country, traveling far and wide. Throughout his travels, Henry explored the nation he loved so dearly.
Henry was no stranger to service and dedication. After completing high school, he proudly served in the United States Army, demonstrating his commitment to his country.
Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Henry loved him dearly. His warm personality and genuine kindness endeared him to friends and family alike including his medical attendants at Phoebe Putney Oncology & Infusion Center that he referred to as “His People.”
Henry is survived by his children Mark (Gail) Barnard, Monica Lea Branch, Michael (Beth) Dorman; sister Linda Sue Hanson; grandchildren Randy Dailey, Ashlea Walker, Clay Barnard, Ryan Rogers, Garrett Dorman, Kayla Scroggins; several great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by the mother of his children, Nancy Chappell, and his life partner, Vera Perkins, his three sisters Mary Jeanette Jones, Virginia Weatherington, Henrietta Kidd, and his brother, Obie P Blankenship.
A Celebration of his Life will be held on November 4, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. The service will take place at the residence of Mark & Gail Barnard located at 2608 Northfield Road, Tifton, Georgia, 31793.
Mr.” B” loved life and he will be deeply missed. He loved his family and neighbors and especially his Phoebe Putney Oncology & Infusion Center family.
