Mrs. Helen Elizabeth Wright Bledsoe, 96, of Tifton, formerly of Irwin county passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at the home of her daughter.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in Waterloo Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Jeff Pangle officiating.
A. J. Johnson, Casey Denny, Philip Bledsoe, David Faulkner, Thomas Horton and Bryan Shockley will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Bledsoe was born May 2, 1924 in Tift County to the late Woodfin Henry Wright and Georgia Lessie Brown Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Benjamin Bledsoe who died in 2002, five sisters and four brothers. Mrs. Bledsoe was the oldest active member of Waterloo Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Miss Helen had lived most of her life in Irwin County. She was very active in her church where she taught Sunday School. Mrs. Bledsoe loved to cook and enjoyed having her pastors over for Sunday lunch. Her family was the center of her life especially her grandchildren. She loved flower gardening and won prizes for her special flowers. She loved to travel and go camping with her family.
Mrs. Bledsoe is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Larry Joe Cooper of Tifton and Cheryl and Charles Goff of Lands Crossing; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Recee Bledsoe of Cartersville and Dale and Diane Bledsoe of Arp Community; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; her two sisters, Ruby McCurdy of Waterloo and Virginia Day of Irwinville.
