Harry Barrineau

Harry Barrineau, 94, of Tifton, passed away on June 3, 2024 at Legacy Village Assisted Living Center of Tifton.

 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Oakridge Cemetery with Rev. Chip Grantham officiating and with Masonic Rites and Military Honors being rendered.  The family will receive friends at the graveside following the ceremony.

 

Mr. Barrineau was born on February 2, 1930 in Alapaha, GA to the late William Byron Barrineau and Adra Barrineau.  He was married to Martha Sutton Barrineau for seventy-one years.  

 

He is survived by his wife, Martha Barrineau, of Tifton, his son Phil Barrineau, of Greensboro, NC and his daughter Tammy Barrineau Jones (Bobby) of Brookfield, GA; granddaughters Katie Lauren Jones of Sacramento, CA, Elizabeth Barrineau Cromer of Tifton, GA, and Hannah Warner Barrineau of Louisville, KY. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Lyrix Shae Devine of Sacramento, CA, Chandler Rhys Cromer and Scarlett Claire Cromer of Tifton, GA, and Olivia Nadine Arico, of Louisville, KY, and two nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his sisters Edith Barrineau and Vivian Barrineau Gaskins, and by his brothers Everett Barrineau, William Clinton Barrineau, Wayne Barrineau, Glenburn Barrineau, William Byron Barrineau, Jr. and Edwin Barrineau.

 

Mr. Barrineau graduated from Alapaha High School in 1947.  Following a medical discharge from the US Navy, he returned to Tifton and began a career as a State Patrol License Examiner, and later with the Georgia State Department of Labor.  He was an active member of First United Methodist Church for over sixty years, and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had a passion for family history/genealogical research and for keeping a beautiful lawn.  He will be remembered as a kind, decent, generous and caring man.

 

The family wishes to thank long-time family friend, Sue Walker, for countless hours of support and assistance during Mr. Barrineau’s illness, in addition to the staff of Legacy Village for their professional and compassionate care.
