Grace Oliver Cannington

Grace Oliver Cannington, 94, of Tifton passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 22 at 2:00 p.m. in Omega Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Baker and Rev. Allen Mullis officiating. Interment to follow in Omega Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, March 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Andy Smith, Cameron Smith, Ernest Harris, Jacob Sirmans, Andy Oliver and Andy Hornbuckle. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Omega Baptist Church and Mrs. Cannington’s Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Cannington was born September 19, 1923 in Tift County to the late Henry Hamilton Oliver, Sr and Mamie Lee Jones Oliver. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter B. Cannington who died in 1997; her daughter, Hilda Morris; granddaughter, Misty Weeks; four brothers, Edward Oliver, Gene Oliver, H.H. Oliver, Jr. and Pete Jones. Mrs. Cannington was a member of Omega Baptist Church and retired from T. M. Hornbuckle Wholesale Florist. She had lived all of her life in Tift and Cook Counties. She was active in her church and loved her family. Mrs. Cannington was a special grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with and caring for her family. Miss Grace was an excellent cook and was a great friend to everyone.

Mrs. Cannington is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Jane Smith of Tifton, Kay and Brock Weeks of Norman Park; grandchildren, Andy Smith, Karla and Vince Perretta, Angie Sirmans; great grandchildren, Lauren Perretta, Cameron Smith, Ty Weeks and Jacob Sirmans.
