Glenn Edward O’Connor, of Tifton passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at his residence.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 3rd at 1:00 p.m. in Our Divine Savior Catholic Church of Tifton with Father Peter Oyenugba officiating. Interment will follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. The funeral wake will be held on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. O’Connor was born March 30, 1930 to the late Glenn William “Irish” O’Connor and Helen McNeff O’Connor. He was married to Joyce Elaine Jones O’Connor for sixty-seven years. He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Eugene “Bunny” O’Connor and one sister, Mary Louise Bradbury. Mr. O’Connor was a member of Our Divine Savior Catholic Church of Tifton and retired after twenty years in United States Air Force, which included a tour in the Vietnam war. Following a distinguished military career, he went to work for the United States Post Office for over twenty years. He was very active in his church serving as a eucharistic minister and serving communion to the homebound. An avid gardener, he was quite a planter of Plumerias. He loved to travel, especially to Hawaii. He was also a fan of the LA Dodgers baseball team, the Atlanta Braves and the New Orleans Saints football team.
In addition to his wife, Mr. O’Connor is survived by two daughters, Roseanne Marie O’Connor and her fiance Paul Anthony D’Arville of Tifton and Brenda Joyce and Craig Hamilton of Temecula, Calif.; one son, Timothy Edward O’Connor of Port Hueneme, Calif.; three grandchildren, Sean Michael and Ann Gorman, Matthew Hamilton and Bryce Hamilton; one great grandchild, Erin Claire Gorman.
