Gladys Fletcher (Thompson) Troup

Mrs. Gladys Fletcher Troup, of Valdosta formerly of Tifton passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021 at her daughter’s residence in Valdosta at the age of 101.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. John Hughes officiating. Interment will follow at Waterloo Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 P.M. at the funeral home before the service.

Josh Thompson, Steve Register, Jerry Wiggins, Geno Hasty, Kenneth Bryan and Randall Bryan will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Troup was born March 10, 1920 in Eldorado, Georgia to the late Alonzo Crawford Thompson and Elizabeth “Liza” Prestrige Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children’s father, W. A. Fletcher, her six sisters, Loura Stone, Vera Corbett, Grace Mangham, Lettie Davis, Lillie Mae Mason, and Bernice West, her two brothers, Nelson Thompson and A. C. Thompson. Mrs. Troup was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Tifton, where she loved singing in the Joyful Sound Senior Choir. She was a leader and counselor in the 4-H club and was a volunteer for the Ladies Auxiliary of Tift Regional Medical Center. She was active in both the Garden Club and Women’s Club.

Mrs. Troup is survived by her daughter Loralei Fletcher Schwartz; her son, Lanier Fletcher; three grandchildren, Teena Davidson, Stacey Davidson Wynn (Dale) and Adrian Fletcher (Ashley); two great grandchildren, Blaire Hillman (Zack) and Kasey Dicks (CJ).
