Geneva (Lyon) Conoly

Mrs. Geneva Lyon Conoly, 90, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at Fellowship Home at Meriwether Assisted Living Center in Milledgeville, GA.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with the Rev. Chip Grantham officiating. Interment will follow in Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. before the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Geneva was born in Tift County, GA on November 28, 1928. Her parents were Charles Byron Lyon and Ruby Chapman Lyon, both who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her devoted husband of 68 years, William Warren (Bill) Conoly, whom she married August 31, 1947.   Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death also by her sisters Claire Lyon Brooks of Buford GA and Grace Lyon Payne (Gene) of Tifton GA.

She attended elementary and middle schools in Tift County in Excelsior and Ty Ty, GA then graduated from Tifton High School where she played basketball.  Before the birth of her first child she was employed at Tifton Cotton Mill.  She faithfully attended the First United Methodist Church of Tifton, where she served as youth Sunday School teacher for many years.  As a volunteer for many years, she served as a Pink Lady at Tift General Hospital.  When her boys were young, she actively supported them in Boy Scouts, band, PTA, and other activities.  She enjoyed playing bridge, cooking for her family and entertaining friends.  She truly enjoyed providing meals from the vegetables that she picked and prepared from her parent’s farm.

Mrs. Conoly is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Warren & Kathy Conoly of Woodstock, GA, Joe and Annette Conoly of Milledgeville, and Don and Betsy Conoly of Newnan, GA; seven grandchildren Kecia Conoly Gray, Will and Meredeth Conoly, Jeff and Amy Floyd, Stuart Floyd, Laura and Matthew Bugg, Melissa and Mark O’Brien and Sarah and Smoak Allen; nine great grandchildren Katie Floyd, Emma Floyd, Griffin Conoly, Myra Conoly, Charlotte Bugg, Brady Bugg, Mikey O’Brien, Mac O’Brien and Mason O’Brien; her brother and sister in law Charlie and Helen Lyons of Valdosta; Brother-in-law Jack Conoly of Monticello FL, brother-in-law Leajar Brooks of Buford, A. Sister-in-law Sue Allen Conoly of Perry, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 107 West 12th Street, Tifton, GA 31794.
