Mr. Gary Lee Brunty, 81, of Ty Ty passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 3, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Terrell Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 P.M. at the funeral home before the service.
Pallbearers will be the men of Tift Avenue Baptist Church.
Mr. Brunty was born November 25, 1938 in Branchland, West Virginia to the late Robert Lee Brunty and Shirley Davis Brunty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Eulah McComas, his brothers Ivan Porter and Ward Brunty and brother-in-law Junior Graham. Mr. Brunty was a member of Tift Avenue Baptist Church and a veteran of The United States Army. He had lived in Tift County since 1970 and was the owner of Continental specialty Company in Ty Ty. Gary was very active in his church where he served as a deacon, church treasurer and sang in the choir. He loved to bake cakes and cookies and share them with people in his church. Mr. Brunty was a family man and a good provider. He had formerly sang in a gospel quartet with his daughter.
Mr. Brunty is survived by his wife Adele Powell Brunty of Ty Ty to whom he was married for fifty-six years; his daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Dusty Statham of Tifton; his son and daughter-in-law Leon and Edie Brunty of Ty Ty; three grandchildren Matthew Brunty, Wesley Brunty and Meri Alyce Statham; two sisters and brother-in-law Shelba Graham of Hamlin, West Virginia and Kaye and Jack Plumley of Gahanna, Ohio; his sister-in-law Rosemary Porter of Springfield, Missouri and his brother and sister-in-law Charles and Freda Porter of Huntington Park, California.
Albritton Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
