Fred Thomas Day, 73 of Cordele died Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele.
Graveside services will be held Friday, November 13, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in Tift Memorial Gardens with Rev. James Spires officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home before the service at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Stan Fowler, Taylor Boothe, Ricky Sherling, Chase Day, Cory Hand and David Hufstetler will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Day was born August 29, 1947, to the late Carl Thomas Day and Willie Blanche Spradlin Day in Irwin County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and J. W. Pate and two brothers and a sister-in-law, George and Margaret Day and Curtis Day.
Fred was a member of Hatley Baptist Church in Cordele where he served as a deacon and a member of the former Long County Hunting Club in Ludiwici, GA. He was a hardworking Christian man who loved to hunt and fish. He had retired as a welder from Kelly Manufacturing Company in Tifton after twenty-two years of service.
His survivors are his wife Melva Jean Hufstetler Day to whom he was married for fifty-two years, his two sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan and Christy Day of Tifton and Brent and Misti Day of Tifton and his daughter and son-in-law, Kayla and Chris Pflueger of Cordele, three grandchildren, Chase Day, Alyssa Boothe and Madilene Pflueger, great granddaughter, Kaylee Day, two sisters, Louise Manning of Jonesboro and Jane Myrtis Howard of Tifton, two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Lawrence and Joyce Ann Day of Chula, Robert and Donna Day of Griffin and his sister-in-law JoAnn Pate Day of Dadeville, Al.
