Mrs. Mary “Frances” Hester Eidson, 95, of Waterloo passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday September 24, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. at Waterloo Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Pangle officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 before the service. The interment will follow at Waterloo Baptist Church Cemetery where she will be buried by her husband and children.
Scott Hester, James Hester, Joey Hester, Ronnie McCurdy, Danny Phelps and Duke Hall will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Eidson was born July 26, 1928 in Tift County to the late James Gordon Hester and Hattie Martin Hester Hammock. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Warren L. Eidson to whom she was married for sixty-three years at his death on February 25, 2011, her son, Warren Richard “Ricky” Eidson, her daughter, Tammy Lynn Eidson Hooker, her granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Eidson and her two sisters, Lucy Karasik, Ruth Busbin and her brother, Sydney Hester.
Mrs. Eidson was a member of Waterloo Baptist Church where she was a deacon’s wife, and for many years the meal planner for the church’s Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Frances was known in her community and family as a great cook, who loved growing her own vegetables for canning. She was a lifelong resident of Irwin County and a graduate of the Irwin County High School Class of 1947.
Mrs. Eidson is survived by her grandchildren, Kristen Eidson Brogdon and her husband, Thad of Moultrie and Tyler Eidson and his finance’ Leslie Knight, her great-grandsons Samuel Hampton Brogdon, Luke Anderson Brogdon, Caroline Cole Eidson and Tyler’s finance’ son, Andrew Carlton Knight, her son-in-law, Tim Hooker of Macon; her brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Joyce Hester of Chula. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
