Florence (Spicer) Davis

Tifton – Mrs. Florence Spicer Davis, 82, of Tifton, died Sunday, January 29, 2017, at Maple Court Assisted Living.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Albritton Funeral Directors with Elder Travis Fussell and Rev. Donnie Wright officiating.  Interment will follow in Brushy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Irwin County.  The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors.

Adam Wright, Joe Wright, Zach Tomberlin, Hunter Tomberlin, Kyle Pilkinton, and Pete Perrin will serve as pall bearers.

Mrs. Davis was born July 30, 1934 in Irwin County to the late Alvin Eston Spicer and Emma Lee Bryant Spicer.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother J. L. Spicer.  After graduating Irwin County High School in 1951, she married Harmon Joseph “Joe” Davis to whom she had been married for sixty five years.  During her working career, she was a bookkeeper for Dr. Ronald Hughes and Rudy’s Drug Store. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking for her family, camping, reading, crocheting, cross stitching and visiting the beach.  She loved family time especially with her grandchildren.  She was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church where she and her husband Joe taught youth Sunday school for several years.

Along with her husband, she is survived by her three daughters and sons – in- law; Debra and Rev. Donnie Wright of Tifton, Cyndy and Bobby Johnson of Valdosta, Jodi and Jimmy Tomberlin of Tifton. Her grandchildren are Joe and Maudie Wright, Adam and Amy Wright, Melissa Roberson, Danette and Johnny Diakogiannis, Michelle and Ray Hulvey, Bobbie Johnson, Zach and Jessica Tomberlin, Hunter Tomberlin and Alli Tomberlin, eighteen great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren.
