Ernestine Rosanna (Armijo) Chavez

Mrs. Ernestine Rosanna Armijo Chavez, 61, of Tifton passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 19, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in Our Divine Saviour Catholic Church with Father Peter Oyenugba and Father Alphonso Gutierrez officiating. Interment will follow in Oakridge Cemetery. The Rosary will be held Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at Albritton Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home following the rosary.

Mrs. Chavez was born January 26, 1960 in Alamosa, Colorado to the late Gabriel Armijo and Rose Vigil Armijo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Gloria Falcon and Jane Lopez and her brother Ricky Armijo. She was a member of Our Divine Saviour Catholic Church of Tifton. Mrs. Chavez had lived in Tifton most of her life and was the owner of Taqueria Hermanos Chavez restaurant in Tifton. She loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and mother-in-law (Wela). Ernestine was very active in her church. She was the rock of her family and was capable of making the best of anything she was given. She loved to spoil her grandchildren by taking them to the store and buying them all the candy they wanted. Ernestine loved to tell her childhood stories and to make people laugh. Mrs. Chavez loved flea markets.

Mrs. Chavez is survived by her husband, Rodolfo Chavez of Tifton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Hector and Priscilla Chavez, Rodolfo, Jr., and Angel Chavez and Moises and Christina Chavez all of Tifton; five grandchildren, Cataleya Chavez, Delilah Perez, Layla Chavez, Hector Chavez, Jr., and Moises Chavez, Jr.; her brother, Xavier Armijo; seven sisters, Gabriela Hernandez, Jean Armijo, Olga Finch, Peggy Eidson, Annette Cox, Juanita Chavez and Christine Chaparro.
