Dr. Lowell Thomas Sangster, Sr., 78, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at his residence.
A Memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Dr. Fred Evers officiating. Dr. Sangster will be laid to rest at the Sangster Family Cemetery in Vienna, Georgia.
Dr. Sangster was born December 13, 1940 in Dooly County, Georgia to the late Herman Curtis Sangster and Hassie Peavy Sangster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Curtis Sangster. Dr. Sangster was an active member of Northside Baptist Church. He served as a captain in the United States Army. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he received an undergraduate degree and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He was retired from University of Georgia Diagnostic Lab as a veterinary pathologist. Dr. Sangster enjoyed singing and was a member of the Northside Baptist Church Choir, as well as the Tifton Community Chorus.
Dr. Sangster is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Katherine Hearne Sangster of Tifton; two daughters and son-in-law, Kim Sangster of Tifton and Kate and Michael Lowry of Flowood, MS; one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Jennifer Sangster, Jr., of Bogart, Ga; two grandchildren, Meghan Sangster and Zeke Lowry; two brothers and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Sangster (Sally) of Dooly County, Georgia and Bob Sangster of Crisp County, Georgia; one sister and brother-in-law, Lena and Jim Collins of Vienna.
