Doyle Eston Wiggins, 88, died at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 6, 2017.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 9th at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Dr. Fred Evers officiating. Interment will follow in Oakridge Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, December 8th from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home.
Lowell Sangster, Gary Hall, Mark Bennett, Tim Wiggins, Don Pisciotta and Steve Edenfield will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Wiggins was born December 5, 1929 in Tift County to the late Eugene Wiggins and Louise LeSueur Wiggins. He was married to Myra Gibbs Wiggins for sixty-four years. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathaleen “Katie” Michelle Wiggins who died in May, 2000.
Mr. Wiggins was a member of Northside Baptist Church where he served as an usher and on other committees, was a graduate of Tifton High School and had lived all his life in Tift County. He was a veteran of the U S Army, serving during the Korean War. He was in the floor covering business for forty years and was well known for his professionalism. He had covered floors in many Tifton homes and tiled all of Tift General Hospital when it was originally built. He loved his family and in his retirement years enjoyed transporting vehicles for the Griffin dealerships. Mr. Wiggins enjoyed yard work and took great pride in the appearance of his lawn. He was a great cook and his granddaughter Tiffany was his pride and joy.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Wiggins is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Richard Wiggins of Tifton, Jeffrey and Ann Wiggins of TyTy; one granddaughter, Tiffany Wiggins of TyTy.
