Douglas "Doug" Turner Mills, a beloved and respected member of the community, passed away on December 17, 2023, in Braselton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 21, 2023 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with David and Ann Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home before the service.
Doug was born December 23, 1956 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late David P. Mills, Sr., and Emily Turner Mills. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Mother-in-law, Joyce Hutt and sister-in-law, Susan M. Mills.
Doug's passion and career revolved around cars. He was a self-employed car detailer and took great pride in his work. His attention to detail and commitment to excellence made him highly sought after by many customers. Doug poured his heart into every vehicle he worked on, ensuring that they looked their best.
In addition to his professional life, Doug valued education. He graduated from North Springs High School in 1975 before going on to complete two years of college at Andrew College in Cuthbert, Georgia in 1979. His dedication to learning and personal growth served as an inspiration to those around him.
Outside of work and education, Doug had a variety of hobbies and interests that brought him joy throughout his life. Photography allowed him to capture special moments and express his creative side. Working on cars gave him a sense of fulfillment and allowed him to showcase his skills and expertise. And when he wanted to unwind and connect with nature, Doug could often be found fishing by the water's edge. Music also held a special place in his heart, as he enjoyed listening to various genres.
While Doug was accomplished in many aspects of his life, his proudest achievements centered around family and friendships. Spending time with loved ones brought immense happiness to him. He cherished every moment shared with his family members, friends, and even his canine companions who brought endless joy and companionship.
He is survived by his loving wife, Georgia Hutt Mills, who stood alongside him through thick and thin. Their bond was unbreakable and served as an example of true love and devotion. Doug is also survived by his two brothers and sisters-in-law, David P. and Ann Mills of Brunswick, and Roger and Karen Mills of Macon. Also, numerous nieces and nephews.
