Mrs. Dorothy Fay Pitts Yancey, 83, of Tifton passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at her daughter’s residence.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Ike Branch officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 5th from 9:00 to 9:45 AM before the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Dylan Yancey, Vince Abad, Larry Dotson, Chris Dotson, Chad Dotson and Bobby Manders.
Mrs. Yancey “Mama Dot” was born January 15, 1936 in Tift County to the late Buford Pitts and Cleo Luke Pitts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ivan Yancey to whom she was married for over forty years, one son Daniel Yancey, one sister and one brother. Mrs. Yancey attended Tifton First Church of Nazarene and was co-owner of Yancey Fence Company. She had lived in Tift County all of her life and helped her husband with their family owned business, Yancey Fence Company. Mrs. Yancey loved traveling with friends, quilting, feeding and watching her hummingbirds. She was famous for homemade banana pudding.
Mrs. Yancey is survived by one son, David Yancey of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Vince Abad, Debbie and Larry Dotson all of Tifton; one daughter-in-law, Teresa Yancey of Tifton; six grandchildren and spouses, Chris and Monica Dotson, Chad and Tanesha Dotson, Bobby and Melissa Yancey Manders, Dylan and Ashley Yancey, Chris and Anna Abad Johnson and Tiffany Yancey; ten great-grandchildren, all of Tifton; one sister, Edith Bannister of Tifton.
Albritton Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
