Donald M. Marchant

Donald M. Marchant, 76, of Tifton passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 1st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors. A private interment will be held at a later date. There will be no public memorial service.

Mr. Marchant was born April 27, 1941 in Tift County to the late Emerson Marchant and Oveda Carter Marchant.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Paige Hand. He was married to Donna McBrayer Marchant for thirty-five years. Mr. Marchant was retired from Colquitt EMC as the Tift, Berrien and Cook district manager after thirty-two years. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army and following his retirement he worked for Federal-State Inspection Company. Mr. Marchant was a member of Omega Methodist Church and had lived in Tift County all of his life. He loved being with his family and was affectionately known as “Papa Don”. He enjoyed college football, especially Georgia Tech, hunting and fishing. He loved laughing and talking with his friends.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Marchant is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Machelle and Jimmy Clements of Tifton and Christy and Kevin Odom of Arabi; one son, Greg Marchant and his fiancé, Geneva Hester of Irwinville; eleven grandchildren, Kim and Todd Bruce, Caleb Clements, Kevin and Jennifer Clements, Denise Marchant, Tyler Marchant, Tember Marchant, Tanner Marchant, Mallory Marchant, Madison Marchant, Blake Odom and Haley Odom; five great grandchildren; one sister, Peggy Hawkins of Tifton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carter and Emily Marchant of Columbus and Carlton and Lea Verne Marchant of Tifton.
