Dollie Bernice (Dowdy) McSwain

Mrs. Dollie Bernice Dowdy McSwain, 88, of Tifton passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 25, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Glen Ford and Rev. Randall LaRoche officiating. Interment will follow in Big Creek Cemetery in Irwinville. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 at the funeral home before the service.

Bill Wetherington, Nicky Brinkley, Ron Youngblood, Charlie LaRoche and Clark LaRoche will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. McSwain was born October 27, 1932 Irwin County to the late Joe Dowdy and Annie Belle Baker Dowdy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Royce McSwain who died May 19, 2010 and to whom she was married to her “sweetheart” for fifty-eight years at his death; her two infant sons, Francis Donald McSwain and Joseph Royce McSwain. Mrs. McSwain was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was retired from J.P. Stevens Company. She was an excellent seamstress and helped many young ladies with their wedding dresses. Miss Dollie enjoyed doing word puzzles. She was a lady of faith and active in her church. She loved her family and enjoyed when they were close to her. Miss Dollie loved her pet cats and her “grand puppy” Molly.

Mrs. McSwain is survived by her son, Will “Danny” McSwain of Tifton; her daughter, Denise of Tifton; her grandchildren, Heidi and Randall LaRoche of Bradenton, Florida and Shanna K. McSwain; her great grandchildren, Anna LaRoche, Abigail LaRoche, Clark LaRoche and Charlie LaRoche; her brother and sister-in-law, Willis and Carlen Dowdy of Tifton.
