Dena Cheryl Kirkman, 75, of Macon, Georgia passed away on July 3, 2024 at Alexander IV Senior Living in Macon, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 6, 2024 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. John Marc Cooling officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home before the service.
Christian Kirkman, Devin Kirkman, Chandler Kirkman, Desmond Williams, Dominick Williams and Dorian William will serve as pallbearers.
She was born on August 15, 1948, in Tift County. Cheryl was known for her dedicated career as an Administrative Assistant with Mercer University in Macon, where she eventually retired in 2012. Before serving at Mercer, she had previously worked for the State of Georgia and Macon Tech.
Throughout her life, Cheryl cherished her family and friends above else. She married the love of her life, Douglas Edwin Kirkman, on August 6, 1969. Together they built a beautiful family filled with love and laughter. Cheryl is survived by her husband Douglas; her daughter and son-in-law, Dena Dionne and Ben Hand of Byron; her son and daughter-in-law, David Cleveland and Adrienne Kirkman of Macon; her grandchildren Dena Leighann Williams, Christian Kirkman, Devin Kirkman, Chandler Kirkman, Jayce Kirkman; and great-grandchildren Desmond Williams, Dominick Williams, and Dorian Williams, her brother Buddy McCrary and his wife Debra McCrary of Tifton and her sister Nancy A. McCrary of Tifton.
Cheryl's passion for life extended beyond her work and family. She found joy in simple pleasures such as reading books, listening to music, and watching Disney movies with her grandchildren. Her warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard C. McCrary and Dena Virginia McFarland McCrary; as well as her sister Linda S. McCray and her grandson, Michael Kirkman.Cheryl was a woman of faith and a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church in Macon. She also attended Ingleside in Macon where she found solace and community.
May we find comfort in knowing that Cheryl has left an indelible mark on our lives through her love and kindness.
