Charles Theodore “Ted” Jackson, 92, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Legacy Village of Tifton Assisted Living.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 24, 2023, at the Chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Reverend Sam Thompson and Reverend Gary Holton officiating. Burial will follow after the service at Shingler Cemetery in Worth County with military funeral honors rendered. The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. – 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 24, 2023, at the Chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors.
Mr. Jackson was born on May 11, 1931 to the late Arthur Lawrence Jackson and Alice Clarisa Robinson Jackson. He is preceded in death by his first wife Elizabeth Norris Jackson who died on April 14, 1983 and his second wife, Beverly Patricia Jackson who died on September 8, 2018; one grandson, Jason Absher; one great grandson, Caleb Thompson; and one brother, Lawrence Jackson.
After graduating high school, Mr. Jackson went on to attend and graduate from North Carolina State University with a degree in engineering. He then served in the U.S. Army for several years and retired as a supervisor for Beard Fabrics in the textile industry. He was an avid fisherman who loved fixing things, painting, wood working, and blue grass and gospel music. He was best known as a jokester with a great sense of humor who never met anyone, he didn’t try to make a friend with. He loved helping others and making connections with his fellow man. He was a devoted Christian who was a member Landmark Church of God in Sylvester and formerly a member of Praise Temple Church of God in Sumner.
He is survived by two sons, Chip (Sandi) Jackson of Surfside Beach, N.C., and Mark (Shannon) Jackson of Zebulon, N.C.; one daughter, Debbie (Wayne) Ramsey of Matthews, N.C.; two step – daughters, Beverly (Frank) Thompson of Worth County, Debra (Buddy) McCrary of Tifton, GA; seven grandchildren, Brandon Jackson, Sam Thompson, Dan Thompson, Joseph Gill, Missy Farmer, Lori Splawn, Austin Ramsey; and sixteen great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Caleb’s Christian Academy, P.O. Box 5635 Sylvester, GA 31791.
