Charles G. “Bud” Koehler, Jr., 92, of Tifton passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Southern Oaks Personal Care Home.
A Memorial service will be held in Magnolia Springs, Alabama at a later date.
Mr. Koehler was born November 4, 1925 in Baldwin County, Alabama to the late Charles Gustav Koehler, Sr., and Lillie Kleinschmidt Koehler. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Evelyn Holk Koehler, to whom he was married for sixty-six years. Also, preceding him in death was his grandson, Brad Smith who died April 24, 2007; one sister and brother-in-law, Frieda and Vernon Hosey. Mr. Koehler was a retired banker and Sergeant in The United States Army serving during the Korean war and later spent twenty years in The Army Reserves. He had lived in Tifton for three years moving here from Magnolia Springs, Alabama to be with his son and daughter-in-law. In Alabama he owned a small farm and loved woodworking. He volunteered and was an original board member of the Baldwin Heritage Museum in Elberta, Alabama. He was raised in Foley United Methodist Church in Foley, Alabama where he remained faithful until his move to Georgia. Mr. Koehler was a staunch supporter of the Methodist’s Children’s Home in Selma, Alabama. He was a graduate of Foley High School.
Mr. Koehler is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Jim Fullton of Easton, Pennsylvania.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Henry and Debbie Koehler of Foley, Ala. and Don and Cheryl Koehler of Tifton; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Bill Kent of Oklahoma City, Ok., Bernice and Ken Black of Elberta, Ala.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to charity of one’s choice.
Albritton Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
