Charles Cooper Timmons, born on February 25, 1944, passed away at Legacy Village of Tifton on October 29, 2024. He was 80 years old and leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by his family and friends.
Before his retirement, Charles was a dedicated ,certified flight instructor who devoted many years to training new pilots. His passion for aviation led him to establish Aero Dusters in Wilcox County, where he was the proud owner and operator for fifty years. His commitment to his vocation not only shaped his life but also touched the lives of countless farmers and individuals who had the privilege of knowing him.
Charles's academic journey began at Warner Robins High School, followed by his attendance at Georgia Southern College. However, during the tumultuous era of the Vietnam War, he answered the call of duty by joining the U.S. Air Force reserves, where he graduated from flight school in 1969. This experience forged his character and enriched his devotion to service.
Known for his kindness and gentle soul, Charles exemplified what it meant to be a hardworking role model. He enjoyed moments of joy at his lake house, where he would entertain his grandchildren with boat rides and fishing excursions, creating lasting memories that will be lovingly recalled by his family.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Tracy Darnell, and son-in-law, Greg Darnell; his son, Charles Thomas Timmons; his brother, Fred Alton Timmons, Jr.; his sister, Betty Thomas,; as well as his sister, Ann Story, and brother-in-law, Robert Story. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Josie Jones, Dalton Jones, and Anslee Jones.
He was preceded in death by his cherished wife of fifty-five years, Brenda Nunnally Timmons; and his parents, Fred Alton Timmons and Margaret Cooper Timmons.
A visitation in memory of Charles will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Albritton Funeral Directors, located at 1020 Tift Ave N., Tifton, GA 31794.
Charles Timmons will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but more importantly for the warmth, love, and laughter he brought into the lives of those who knew him. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
