Cathy Gail (Osborne) Strickland

Mrs. Cathy Gail Osborne Strickland, 64, of Tifton passed away on June 21, 2023 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Stacy Phillips and Rev. Ross Strickland officiating. Interment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Albritton Funeral Directors.

Brian Raulerson, Austin Hughes, Conner Corbitt, Aaron Todd, Jamie Mitcham and Ladue Raulerson will serve as pallbearers. Rick Berry’s Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Strickland was born December 30, 1958 in Waycross, Georgia to the late Harold Frank Osborne and Bessie Juanelle “Nell” Booth Osborne. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church of Tifton. Mrs. Strickland was a graduate of Waycross High School and Valdosta State College with a Bachelor’s Degree and Special Education Certificate. Her church family was a large part of her life and she lived to serve God and her family. She was counselor and confidant to many. Cathy mentored younger teachers and everyone knew that her classroom and home couch were always available for comfort, encouragement, and laughs. She loved beach trips and said to “Choose Joy”, and she always reminded everyone that “This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

Mrs. Strickland is survived by her husband, Joseph “Joey” R. Strickland, Jr. of Tifton; her daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Todd Phillips of Jacksonville; her son and daughter-in-law, Ross and Caroline Strickland of Valdosta; her grandchildren, Georgia Strickland, Frances Strickland and Ellie Phillips; her sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Jimmy Raulerson of Waycross; Joey’s sisters and brother-in-law, Shari Hughes of Baxley and  Shay and Carlton Corbitt of Waycross along with Joey’s parents, Ronnie and Mary Ann Strickland of Waycross.
