Catherine Elaine (Flanders) Durden

Mrs. Catherine Elaine Flanders Durden, 85, of Tifton passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, May 30, 2021 at 4:00 P.M. in Sunlight Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Cobbtown, Georgia. The eulogy will be given by Gary Durden. In Cobbtown, the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:30 P.M. at  Kennedy Funeral Home, 37196 GA-23, Cobbtown, Georgia before the service at the cemetery. In Tifton, the casket will lie in state at her son, Larry Durden’s home at 8 New River Church Road, Tifton, Ga. at beginning at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, May 29, 2021.

Mrs. Durden was born May 28, 1935 in Swainsboro, Georgia to the late Norman Flanders and Uvalda Moye Flanders. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lawson Durden, Sr., who died in 1996 and to whom she was married for forty-four years at his death; her son, Kenneth Lawson “Keith” Durden and her great granddaughter, Kayleigh Tanner-Durden. Mrs. Durden attended First Baptist Church of Tifton and had lived in Tifton since 1964. She was a woman of faith and active in her church where she loved singing in the choir. Shopping was one of her favorite activities. Mrs. Catherine was a good mother and looked after her boys. Her happiest times was spending time with them, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Catherine was a pink lady for twenty years with Tift Regional Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Durden is survived by four sons and daughter-in-law, Larry and Terrie Durden of Tifton, Charles Durden of Savannah, Mike Durden of Tifton and Gary Durden of Atlanta; four grandchildren, Leslie and Justin Bailey, Lindsey and Luke Fletcher, David Durden and special friend Tammy Tanner and Ashley Durden; great grandchildren, Landon Fletcher, Grady Fletcher, Ava Lynn Durden and Cali Durden; her sisters, Deloris Waters of Statesboro and Mary Joyce Hendrix of Cobbtown, Georgia.
