Carolyn P. Harvey, a compassionate soul dedicated to her family and the Lord Jesus Christ, passed away at Community Hospice and Palliative Care in Jacksonville, Florida, on Sunday, April 7, 2024
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors, with the Rev. Michael Marchant officiating. Interment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the funeral home.
Carolyn was born in Tifton on June 18, 1937, the daughter of Harold and Irene Barry Partin. At the age of seven, she and her family moved to Haines City, Florida, where she graduated from Haines City High School in 1955. After graduation, she attended Lab Tech School in Asheville, North Carolina. She stated that she would occasionally see the late Reverend Billy Graham in attendance at her church. After Lab Tech school she went to work at Halifax Memorial Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida. While there, one of her jobs was to draw blood for testing for the race car drivers of the Daytona 500. She was proud that one of her patients was Fireball Roberts.
In May of 1962, Carolyn married the love of her life, the late Joe Harvey. They were married for 48 great years. They resided in Haines City for a while, before moving to Lineville, Alabama, then to Cordele, and finally to Brookfield. During those 48 years, they made many trips to the mountains of Tennessee and trips out west. One of the proudest accomplishments that she spoke about was traveling to all 48 states in the lower United States and across Canada, all on their Gold Wing motorcycle. Carolyn was also very active in her church, where she was usually the director of Vacation Bible School. It was always her joy to do VBS. Watching young children come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior always put a smile on her face. Another great accomplishment occurred after Joe’s passing, and that was to tandem skydive. At the young age of 78, she made her first jump. She did two other jumps after that, the last one at age 80.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Joe. She is survived by her son, Joe E. Harvey II, and his wife Adeth of Bonaire, Georgia, daughter Tonya Davis and her husband Patrick of Fleming Island, Florida, and her son Joseph LoBiondo and wife Kathleen of Albion, Maine. She is also survived by her sister Melba Padgett and her husband Bob of Okeechobee, Florida, and her grandchildren Scott Roberson of Tifton, Kim Hill of Ocilla, Liz Davis of Fleming Island, Florida, and Rachael LoBiondo of Dale, Texas, along with four great-grandchildren, one nephew, and two nieces.
A special thanks to the entire staff of Community Hospice and Palliative Care in Jacksonville, Florida, for the exceptional care that was provided to Carolyn and the family during her stay.
