George A. “Buck” Hitson, 72, of Tifton died Monday, May 2, 2016 at Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia.
A Celebration of Life Bar-b-que will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 4872 Ga. Hwy 125 N. Tifton, Georgia 31794.
Mr. Hitson was born in Wilcox County on June 15, 1943 to the late Travis Russell and Barbara Sanders Hitson.
After retiring from Consolidated Freightways, Buck owned and operated the Peanut Patch by Pepi’s Convenience Store. He loved his grandchildren and he supported UGA football. Mr. Hitson also loved dogs and he rescued many dogs over the years. He enjoyed being around people and talking.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hitson was preceded in death by his two brothers.
Mr. Hitson is survived by his wife of twenty- three years, Linda Combs Yingling Hitson, four daughters, Kimberly Hitson of Savannah, Trudy Eaton of Tifton, Jody McCleery of Sparks, and Lindsay Sanderfur of Melbourne, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Trevor Hitson, Hannah Newsome, Haley Newsome, Aubrie McCleery, Aaron McCleery, Troy Eaton, Alex Sidwell, Arden Sidwell, and Ava McCleery; and a cousin, like a brother, Milton Hitson of Thomaston.
