Brenda (Montgomery) Claudette Smith

Brenda Claudette Montgomery Smith, 78, of TyTy passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Chula with Rev. Dean McKinney officiating. Interment to follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 1 at the funeral home.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Smith was born August 21, 1939 in Tift County to the late Ernest Miles Montgomery and Stella Lillian Weldon Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Smith who died 2013, her grandson, Timmy Ray McLean, two infant sons; three brothers, Paul Montgomery, Jimmy Montgomery and Wallace Montgomery; two sisters, Thelma Sutton and Kathy Brack. Mrs. Smith was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Chula and had lived in Tift County most of her life. She was retired from Oxford Manufacturing as a sewing technician. Mrs. Smith loved her family and her grandchildren. She loved to bake and was an avid reader.

Mrs. Smith is survived by three daughters and son-in-law, Peggy Sue and Terry Smith of Cottonwood, Alabama, Patricia Garnto and Pam Stuckey of TyTy; One son, James Ernest Smith and his fiancé, Trudy Sawyer of Ashburn; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Wanda Rowell of Chula; two brothers, Mark Montgomery of Lee County and Steve Montgomery of Screven.
