Funeral services for Billy Hue Smith, 86, of Cairo, GA, are at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 21, 2025, at the First Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Chris Allen will officiate. Committal services will reconvene at 1:00 p.m. in Pineview Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery, 4872 Union Road, Tifton, GA 31794. Mr. Smith passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
Active pallbearers will be Allen McBrayer, Tony McBrayer, Kenny McBrayer, Shane Smith, Mark Gill, Andy Gill. Honorary pallbearers will be the Truth Seaker Sunday School Class, Baracca Sunday School Class, Sid Pridgen, Doug Prince, Larry Higdon, Larry Dixon, Pete Ezell, Wayne Herndon and Charlie Ferenchick.
Mr. Smith was born on September 23, 1938, in Homerville, GA, to the late Lewis Carold Smith and Gertrude Beverly Smith. On November 26, 1958, he married Louise McBrayer Smith, the love of each other’s life (married 66 years). He served his country in the Army National Guard. He retired as a supermarket manager and buyer for Higdon IGA. He was a devoted member of the Cairo First Baptist Church. Billy was a humble person and loved people. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandson. Billy also loved music and enjoyed singing in the FBC choir for several years. Billy served as a deacon in several Baptist churches.
Survivors include: his wife, Louise Smith of Cairo, GA; daughter, Michele Beach (Michael) of Tifton, GA; daughter-in-law, Karen Smith of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Rebekah B. Hawkins (Nathan) of Jefferson, GA; granddaughter, Lindsey Phillips (Ryan) of Cairo, GA; great-grandson, Segar Cleveland Phillips; siblings, Charles Smith (Donna) of Valdosta, GA, Roger Smith (Charlene) of Tifton, GA, Janice Hale of Watkinsville, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Michael Lance Smith; and a great granddaughter, Winnie Lou Hawkins.

The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church of Cairo on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
