Betty Pearl Miller Gurley, 81, of Chula passed away at her residence on Thursday, July 20, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Tift Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Terrell Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Landmark Baptist Church Cemetery in Chula. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
Gary Palmer, Gregg Palmer, Dave Gurley, Emory Gurley, Tommy Byrd and Jan Bunting will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Gurley was born in Whigham, Georgia on May 13, 1936 to the late Jack and Linnie Pearl Newberry Miller. She was a graduate of Whigham High School. Mrs. Gurley was married to John Henry Gurley for thirty-seven years as of August 30, 2017. She had served as a secretary at the Tift County Court House for many years. As a member of Tift Avenue Baptist Church and a people person, she loved to share the love of God with others.
Mrs. Gurley is survived by four sons, Gary C. Palmer and Janice of Valdosta, Gregg L. Palmer of Valdosta, Dave Gurley and Penny (special caretaker) of Chula, and Emory C. Gurley and Angie of Georgetown, South Carolina; three daughters, Johnnie Mae Bunting and Jan of Gulf Breeze, FL, Margaret Edson of Andalusia, AL, and Jennifer Byrd and Tommy of Andalusia, AL and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
