Betty Childs

Ms. Betty Childs, 85 of Chula passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022, at Bradley Place Assisted Living Center.

Private family services will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ms. Childs was born September 10, 1936 in Irwin County to the late Robert Wilson Childs and Flossie Bell Hester Childs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Ms. Childs was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Chula and was a graduate of Tifton High School. She sold insurance, cared for the Elderly, raised children and loved to cook “pound cakes”.

Ms. Childs is survived by her three cousins that she raised, Tonya Irwin of Chula, James Hester of Colorado and Crystal Hester of Alaska. She is also survived by her cousins, Miriam Laird of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, Daniel Dowden of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, and extended family members Gabriel Irwin, Wyatt Irwin, Levi Irwin, Connor Hester and Kaelyn Swain.
