Alice Janice (Davis) Bouknight

Alice Janice Davis Bouknight, 82, of Tifton passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at Oakridge Cemetery in Tifton.  The pastor of First Baptist Church, Dr. Wayne Roe, will officiate. Janice was a member of First Baptist Church and was a member of the Gardeners Sunday School Class.  The family will receive friends after the Oakridge graveside service at the cemetery.

She was born May 13, 1936, in Abbeville, South Carolina.  She was the daughter of the late William McKnight Davis and Jettie Ashley Davis.

Janice graduated as an honor student in the class of 1954, at Abbeville, South Carolina and was employed as a dental assistant by Dr. William T. Hughes.  She was the last surviving sibling of her family.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and their spouses; William L. Davis and Grace, Jasper B. Davis and Katie, Carl H. Davis, Andrew Davis and Eleanor, Paul Davis and his two wives; Mary Alice Hill Davis and Janice Ivester Davis, her two sisters and their spouses; Mary D. Pelfrey and Carl R., Margaret D. Maddox and Robert L.  She was also predeceased by her husband, Robert W. (Bob) Bouknight on August 4, 2014, after fifty-eight years of marriage.

Janice was a true southern lady who enjoyed the UGA Bulldogs.  She loved her family and church.

Survivors are her son Robert G. Bouknight and his wife Jennifer of Mooresville, North Carolina; a daughter Susan Bouknight Taylor and her husband Tim of Tifton, and three grandchildren; Olivia Rose Phillips and her husband David of Boiling Springs, North Carolina, Robert Gary Bouknight, II, and Ryan Patrick Bouknight of Mooresville, North Carolina.

Other surviving relatives are her sisters-in-law, Grace Link Davis of Due West, South Carolina, Susan Rush Huff and Lee of Stone Mountain, along with many nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 404 Love Ave., Tifton, GA 31794 or the charity of one’s choice.  Albritton Funeral Directors is assisting the family with the arrangements.
